The Wartburg Castle was built in the 11th century and it is the vivid representation of the Medieval castles of that time. It was home of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, Louis IV who was Elizabeth´s husband, and a refuge for Martin Luther.
The Palas is the largest structure of the Castle, and is characterized by its Romanesque style. It has many rooms, one of them is the Elizabeth-Kemenate, the walls of this room are covered by mosaics that show the life of St. Elizabeth
